A Specialty Psychology Practice
Welcome to First Responders Thrive, PLLC, a specialty psychology practice focusing exclusively on the unique needs of New Hampshire’s First Responder community and families. Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters, Paramedics, Emergency Medical Personnel, Veterans, and Dispatchers are our most important community protectors. You exhibit tremendous strength, courage, and self-sacrifice day after day while keeping our communities safe.
At the same time, the seriousness of crises you routinely encounter is more than most of us will experience in our lifetimes. Engaging in stressful, dangerous daily work can eventually take its toll on your physical and psychological well-being. Because responders are always problem-solving for others, it can be hard to acknowledge your own accumulating struggle to manage the daily rollercoaster of stressors that come with the job. Yet, as keen observes, responders are in an ideal position to seek assistance for yourselves when needed. Your families are an integral part of this community and deserve emotional support as well.
I specialize in trauma-informed care for the broad range of issues that arise in the lives of First Responders from cumulative chronic stress, to (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), depression, anxiety, excessive alcohol use, and offer Couples Therapy when relationships become strained. And I am committed to help eliminate the stigma historically associated with responders’ seeking assistance from behavioral health clinicians.
Providing privacy and confidentiality are two primary ingredients that help make therapy work. In order for you to feel comfortable enough to speak openly and honestly, dependable trust must be built, and so you can count on me to give you my undivided attention, to take time to listen carefully, and to understand your unique concerns. My treatment approach promotes recovery, resilience, and well-being regardless of your specific concern or the type of therapy you prefer.
PTSD Treatment
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a mental health condition that develops in some people following a sudden “traumatic” event – an unexpected, serious situation , one that feels shocking and dangerous. Please recognize that if you are a First Responder who has developed PTSD, you are not alone! Treatment for PTSD can be highly effective in reducing or eliminating symptoms.
Depression Treatment
Clinical depression can be one of the most difficult experiences a First Responder can go through, and it can be quite challenging to first recognize it in yourself and, second, get it turned around on your own. Making the investment in your own recovery by engaging in evidence-based treatment offers hope for a better future. It means making recovery from depression a top priority.
